Lifestyle | Wartime Tea at Katies Garden

I feel like a giant muffin the amount of cake and scones I've eaten lately. But this place trumps them all. I've been wanting to try Katies Garden for a while now and what better excuse than to celebrate, one of my good uni friends getting their first teaching post! Congratulations Natalie!

Katies Garden change their afternoon tea every once in a while to keep you on your toes. This time round it was war time inspired. Their war time afternoon tea claimed to

"Imagine being treat to a surprise picnic in the garden where you tuck into all the treats you've been working hard to save in the pantry.

Delivered to you wrapped in your very own picnic basket, you'll find a selection of delicious sandwiches made from the tasty Geordie baker bread. You'll enjoy a freshly baked scone of your choice selecting from fruit, cherry or cheese, served with little jars filled with cream, jam or chutneys.

Then your sweet treats, the highlight of any picnic!

Open your little hand tied packages to find a variety of homemade cakes & treats.
Washed down with your very own hand packed bottle of cloudy lemonade and unlimited tea & coffee we'll keep delivering to your table"

I mean if you think the outside looks cute and inviting you should see inside...

I mean how amazing?!! The tree even changes its decorations with the season. Not only do Katies Garden do afternoon tea, they also do crafts. If you give Katies Garden a follow on facebook, they do endless amounts of craft workshops and they're not just for kids!

Our table mats were grass (dont worry it was only astro turf), beautifully decorated with leaves, with a delicately placed cup and saucer accompanied with knife, fork and napkin. The tables were actual garden tables which gave you even more of an outdoorsy feel.

The wonderful Kate came over to take our orders of what we would like, tea or coffee (which is unlimited) and what kind of scone we would like with our afternoon tea. It was a choice between cheese with chutney, fruit with jam and cream or a HUGE spiced cherry scone. Both myself and Natalie went for the spiced cherry scone.
Now, are you ready for the most elaborate creative, amazing afternoon tea ever?

Low and behold the best thing I have ever seen in my 20 years of existence - maybe apart from that time I met Harry Styles. We literally were speechless and didn't know where to start. I mean scones in hedgehogs?!!

Inside the basket of goodies lay...
Cloudy Lemonade accompanied with chalices and adorable paper straws, carrot cake, macaroons, caramel short bread, a selection of sandwiches and a HUGE custard cream and bourbon - which we halfed.

The attention to detail was insane! You can tell that the people who work at Katies Garden absolutely love what they do.

Unfortunately we couldn't manage to eat it all! So we bagged some up for later. We practically rolled out the door we were that full. All of this for a staggering £8 (Normally £10, as this was the introductory price). Amazing best afternoon tea I've ever had. 10/10.
